Come and see Manaraefan Vikings at Fort Nelson 4th & 5th July 2026! (Porchester, Fareham. PO17 6AN) A multi period event where we will be in a Living History Village display showing how Vikings would have lived and also prepared themselves for battle against the Saxon residents of the South of England! Watch a Viking Skirmish with authentic combat weapons alongside archery displays giving you a flavour of how the Viking army operated plus a view of hand to hand combat. We will also demonstrate how missiles were used to pick off the enemy from a distance before close engagement happened, then watch the archers pick off the enemy whilst protected by the fighting warriors! Come to the village and observe the crafts that enabled folk to have clothing, add decoration, wear shoes and socks and how they dyed everything naturally to satisfy their love of colours! Watch out for any woodwork or smithing taking place that will demonstrate how weaponry was made. There will be delicious smells to entice you into the village to observe, as folk prepare their daily food and cook authentically over an open fire!
