Arrival & Departure:
Arrival on Friday 3rd July from 2pm onwards, but for those that are only able to arrive on Saturday 4th July, Fort Nelson requests you arrive no later than 8.30am to allow for time for set-up and briefings.
Please note that booking in will be closed from 9.15am on both days of the event.
Public Opening times 10am – 5pm AUTHENTIC BY 9.30am
Dates 4th & 5th July, authentic camping from Friday 3rd
Modern camping is permitted onsite but equipment and tents must be cleared away by 9am each day. There will be security onsite at all times. Camping will be available on Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th July. Groups will have access to drinking water and toilets overnight.
Please note the display and camping area is located at the front of the fort, outside the main perimeter walls, and remains open to the public at all times. There are no gates restricting access during the day or overnight. Security personnel will patrol the area regularly; however, they will not be stationed in any one location.
All groups are responsible for the supervision and security of their own belongings at all times.
You will be able to leave site, however we please ask that any vehicles are back on site by 10pm, at which points the gates will be closed by security.
Please note that modern vehicles will need to be removed from the event area prior to opening and parked in the far East corner of the main Visitor carpark. All cars will need to be in the carpark by 9am.

Dress: All participants must be in period dress whilst the museum is open to visitors over the event days. If you are involved with the arena displays, please note that there must be no mobile phones or modern jewellery/watches visible to the public while you are taking part in these displays.
Vehicle Movement: No vehicle movements are permitted when the museum is open to the public unless they are part of a display/re-enactment and have been authorised for movement by the event manager, or in response to an emergency. All vehicle movements must be marshalled by RA staff in high vis jackets. Vehicle speed limit onsite is 5mph.
Behaviour: All groups & contractors will abide by the Royal Armouries Visitor Regulations and Safeguarding Policies. Please see link below:

Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside, or near the entrance to any buildings. While open to the public, the designated smoking point is the east side of the parade ground, on the hard standing near the Voice of the Guns gallery. The designated area has been marked with signage.
Waste Disposal Guidelines: Please ensure all waste is disposed of in the designated bins, primarily located near the museum’s food outlets. For those camping, please sort your waste correctly. Glass must not be placed in the general waste bins, please use the appropriate recycling bin for glass. Extra bins will be provided in camping areas.
Arena/Timed Displays: There will be a set programme for arena and timed displays. Your group lead will be issued with a copy of this programme prior to the event. For those with timed displays, please stick within your timed slot. You will be escorted to and from the display area by a member of the event team. There will be a PA system in each arena. Please utilise the PA system for any commentary unless previously agreed otherwise.
Fires: Only pre-agreed fires will be permitted on site at any time.
Briefings: All groups must have at least one representative attend the morning safety briefing prior to opening.
Nazi & Third Reich Insignia: Nazi or Third Reich insignia is not permitted onsite. Any material on display will asked to be removed.
Manaraefan Input:
We have been asked to provide our normal LH village with craft displays/demos alongside weapons diaplays within the village.
Our Arena slots are on the Parade Ground Arena(PGA) and in the Small Arena(SA) on the front lawn.
(Parade Ground Arena is a single skin arena with interlocking metal barriers with a concrete weight on every other stand. There is also a brick wall for part of it as well. Using this arena has been ok’d with Goose(RA pending but email agreement gained) with my added stipulations of two marshals patrolling inside the arena and one stood on the entrance on the outside to prohibit public entry. No bump caps for the marshals; they must be metal helmets.
Archery is permitted but only in the direction of the side of the arena without public.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on site.
